The concept implemented will reduce energy consumption and the environmental footprint of the building located at 335, boul. Deguire.<\/p>\n First, we installed two electric heat pumps that will draw heat from the outside air to heat domestic hot water. These new aerothermal units are installed on the roof, along with the pump and all the components required for their operation.<\/p>\n Secondly, a ventilation optimization and heat recovery measure has been implemented.<\/p>\n A thermal wheel to recover sensible and latent heat was also installed. Around a dozen evacuators were routed to the heat wheel via insulated ventilation ducts. Fresh air will thus be supplied to the dwellings at all times, and will be heated by the energy recovered from the exhaust air via the heat wheel.<\/p>\n Thirdly, the natural gas unit heaters in the indoor parking lot were replaced by new electric models to further reduce the building’s gas consumption.<\/p>\n All new equipment and systems were integrated into the central control system. A complete recommissioning of all systems was carried out to optimize the entire building.<\/p>\n The proposed measures will drastically reduce natural gas consumption (95%) and therefore greenhouse gas emissions.
